Amy Winehouse was born as Amy Jade Winehouse on September 14th 1983 in London, England. She revealed an early passion in music during childhood performing in local gigs when she was nine years old. She began practicing on her guitar when she was thirteen, through the influence of her musical father and her influential grandmother. She scored her first solo success in 2003, at the age of 20, with her jazz blend album, Frank, which won her a performance in the Glastonbury Festival.
Amy Winehouse entered the pop scene with her Back to Black album first released in October 2006. Two singles from the acclaimed album, Rehab and You Know I’m No Good were released on October, 2006 and January, 2007 respectively. Both performed well in the album charts while Rehab topped the best song list for 2007 compiled by Time Magazine. Amy Winehouse won the Grammy Awards in 2008 with accolades for Record of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Song of The Year. She released the album Valerie featuring the single of the same title and 59 other of her songs in October of 2008. In May of 2009, she returned to the world of Jazz making an appearance in St. Lucia and on the V festival in August of the same year.
